Coffee table books are a great way to style your home and are also a way to express yourself. They allow you to show off your interests, styles, designs, and to share with others what you’re passionate about. And when you’re a dog lover, dog-themed coffee table books are perfect for bringing your love for dogs into your home. Here are a few of my favorites that always spark conversations, entertain my guests, and are perfect for any home decor.
9 Best Dog-Themed Coffee Table Books
1. Resident Dog: Incredible Homes and the Dogs That Live There
This book showcases gorgeous photographs of architecture, interiors of modern homes, and the dogs who live there. Each picture has a description that gives information about the dogs and their individual personalities. If you love interior design, home decor, and dogs, this book and the next one below are perfect!
2. Resident Dog: Incredible Homes and the Dogs That Live There (Volume 2)
I couldn’t get enough of the first volume, so I bought the second volume too.
3. Cool Dogs, Come Home: Living in Style with Your Dog
These beautiful photographs show you how to incorporate dogs into your life without sacrificing your style or your dog’s freedom to roam the house and backyard. Whether you live in the city, in the countryside, or on the coast, your home can still look good with a few careful compromises. Then, there’s a section dedicated to the “design” dogs – dogs belonging to designers who have beautifully curated dog-friendly homes. And finally, there’s a special section telling the stories of rescue dogs and how they can bring such joy and love into your life and home.
4. Old Faithful: Dogs of a Certain Age
Portraits of senior dogs in this book are sweet, heartwarming, and really touched my heart. It made me think about what Gatsby will look like in his senior years, and it also reminds me that a dog’s life is so short. We must spend as much time with them as possible and not take their time here with us for granted. Their eyes may get cloudy, their muzzles may turn all white, but they will always remain a puppy in our hearts.
5. Zen Dogs
This book showcases 80 photos of calm, relaxed, and content dogs living in the moment. Dogs live in the moment and teach us to be mindful in so many ways. I meditate with Gatsby every morning, so this book really spoke to me. I love that there are also quotes from Buddha, Gandhi, and other masters of meditation.
6. Canines of New York
As a native New Yorker and someone who loves dogs, this book was a must-have! Beautiful photos of adorable dogs from every NYC borough will put a smile on your face anytime.
7. Dog People
What kind of person would your dog be? That was the inspirational question that photographer Sandra Mullen had in mind for this book. This book has been an excellent conversation piece whenever friends and family visit. The photos are hilarious and are sure to make you smile. I even had my friends argue about what kind of person their dog would be or their dog’s profession if they were human. ?
8. The Dogist: Photographic Encounters with 1,000 Dogs
A documentary-styled photobook captured by NYC-based photographer Elias Weiss Freidman, this is another must-have for those who are New Yorkers, love NYC in general, and love dogs. It’s also a New York Times bestseller for a reason!
9. Good Dog: A Collection of Portraits
This is such a beautiful book filled with little heartwarming faces. The portraits are stunning as you can see the personalities of each breed. You can almost understand each dog by just looking into their faces. These photos speak without words!
10. MUTTS: A Celebration of Mystery Mixed Breeds
MUTTS is the newest in my coffee table books collection. It features more than 100 adorable pups from all different origins and breeds, photographed by Olivia Grey Pritchard. Each photo has the pooch’s name and best guess of breed mix, and a unique trait about them.
