These are the four luxury Boston hotels I’ve stayed at with my pup Gatsby, and they’ll always keep us coming back.

4 Best Luxury Downtown Boston Hotels That Allow Large Dogs

The Newbury Boston

The Newbury Boston Luxury Hotel Dog Friendly

A part of the Leading Hotels of the World, The Newbury Boston, hands down, is the epitome of modern luxury. Located across the street from the Boston Public Garden and next to upscale shopping with designer stores and restaurants, everything you need is here. It was such a comfortable stay that it made us forget we were miles away from home.

We stayed in their Classic Corner Park View Suite, which was truly stunning. The separate living space was roomy, and Gatsby had so much space to roam around. The suite features a cozy wood-burning fireplace, and it’s a must-experience on a cold winter day!

Your pup will receive stylish bowls and a comfy plush bed. A maximum of two dogs in a room is permitted, and an additional $100.00 (non-refundable) cleaning pet fee per stay. Dogs cannot be left alone in the rooms.

XV Beacon

XV Beacon Luxury Downtown Boston Hotel

XV Beacon, a 5-star boutique gem in Boston, combines historic charm with modern luxury. Located in the heart of Beacon Hill and just a block away from the famous Boston Common, this hotel seriously gives off old-money vibes. We stayed at The Boston Common Studio, which had plenty of space for Gatsby.

Enjoy the intimate setting with your pup, as this hotel promises the most dog-friendly experience with its upscale accommodations. When you arrive, your pup will get a welcome plate of cookies and peanut butter drizzled with their name, and they will get the cutest dog toy XV Beacon branded slipper!

My favorite thing about staying at XV Beacon is that guests can reserve a complimentary in-house Lexus ride around downtown Boston. We stayed during the holidays, and our driver, Valentine, took us to the Boston Snowport (a holiday market at the Seaport) and was kind enough to wait for us to drive us back to the hotel!

Before checking out of XV Beacon, make sure you dine at The Mooo! We ordered room service and tried their Prime Bone-in Dry Aged Ribeye. Let’s just say that’s what we’ll definitely order again next time we visit Boston!

XV Beacon welcomes dogs of any size for an additional fee of $50 per stay. However, 50% of the pet fee is donated to a local animal organization. How nice is that?!

Boston Harbor Hotel

Overlooking the harbor, the Boston Harbor Hotel is such an iconic waterfront stay mixed with Boston’s colonial past and modern aesthetics. Each room at the Boston Harbor Hotel has a harbor or city view. We stayed at the Premier Harbor Room which had stunning harbor views, and Gatsby loved watching the boats go by.

You’ll love staying here for the impeccable service and dog-friendly welcome from the staff.

It’s a perfect stroll with your pup, a short walk to Faneuil, the North End, for excellent northern Italian cuisine and the Seaport.

The hotel’s restaurant, Rowes Wharf Sea Grille offers in room dining and is a must-try. Did you know their bar is rated one of the 44 best hotel bars in the world?

Boston Harbor Hotel welcomes two pets up to 80 lbs for a nightly $100 fee per pet.

The Whitney Boston

Best luxury downtown Boston hotel. The Whitney Boston.

The Whitney Hotel is a boutique hotel that offers luxury, historic charm, modern sophistication, and dog-friendly hospitality.

The hotel offers a range of upscale dog-friendly amenities, including a plushy dog bed by Lion + Wolf, food bowls, and gourmet healthy treats from Boston’s famous Polkadog Bakery.

The Whitney Hotel welcomes two pets for an additional fee of $125 per stay.

My favorite thing about the stay was the dog-friendly dining experience with Peregrine at their outdoor patio. And if you’re planning to visit in the fall or winter, don’t worry about the cold. Plenty of heat lamps are out there to keep you toasty while you dine with your pup.
